A DECISIVE VICTORY

“And having done al1, to stand” (Eph. vi. 13).

HERE are Waterloos in the history of nations.  There are victories so decisive that the conflict is ended.  After the wilderness, Satan departed for a season from our Lord.  And so for us the promise is, “The God of all grace who hath called us unto His eternal glory by Christ Jesus after ye have suffered awhile stablish, strengthen, settle you.”  God will give us rest and greater strength because of every conflict.  We shall stand in a higher place because of the hate of the enemy.  “Blessed is the man that endureth temptation for when he is tried he shall receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to them that love Him.”

“Oh, precious cross, oh, fadeless crown,
   That Christ has left for me;
I’ll bear the cross and win the crown,
   My blessed Lord, through Thee.”
