I HAVE OVERCOME FOR YOU

“Be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (John xvi. 33).

HE secret of our triumph is not our courage, our weapons or our power but our entering into the victory already won for us by the Lord Jesus Christ.  “Thanks be unto God who always leadeth us in triumph in Christ Jesus,” is another version of the familiar text already quoted.  It is not our triumph but His and we simply follow in His footsteps and enter into His victory.

We are ad dependent upon the Lord for our victory over Satan as for every grace and gift of our Christian experience.  Our whole life is a life of faith in the Son of God.  In the wilderness He met and overcame the great adversary as our representative and it is our privilege now to enter into the victory that He has won.  Let us hear Him saying ever to us, “I have overcome for thee.”
