IMMUNE SOULS

“He shall not see when heat cometh” (Jer. xvii. 8).

HAT a contrast this is to the life mentioned in the previous verse, “He shall not see when good cometh.”  Some people never see their blessings.  Others never see their trials.  The people around us may think we have a hard time but it never occurs to us.  The joy of the Lord preoccupies us and fills all our vision with gladness, hope and praise.  Keep your eyes off your troubles.  They will mesmerize you.  Keep your eyes off yourselves.  You will see nothing there but discouragement and failure.  Fix your eyes upon Jesus and every sky will be bright and every prospect please.

“Jesus knows the way He leads me,
   I have but to hold His hand;
Nothing from His thought is hidden,
   Why need I to understand?
Let me, like the loved disciple,
   Hide my head upon His breast,
While upon His faithful bosom
   All my cares are hushed to rest.”
