“Ye have your fruit unto holiness and the end everlasting life” (Rom vi. 22).
OLINESS differs from righteousness as the fountain differs from the stream. Holiness is our inward experience. Righteousness is our outward life. The palm tree must be sound at heart as well as straight and beautiful in its form. “The tree is known by its fruit; a corrupt tree cannot bring forth good fruit.” True holiness is a divine life, the life of Jesus Christ Himself imparted to our being through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. “I will put My spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes and ye shall keep My judgments and do them.”
“This the secret of the holy,
Not our holiness, but Him;
Jesus empty us and fill us
With Thy fullness to the brim.”
