“Nevertheless, afterward it yielded the peaceable fruit of righteousness” (Heb. xii. 11).
HESE may be represented by the burning sands that mature the fruit of the palm tree. While to weaker vegetation, they are destructive, they are life to this noble plant and give sweetness, richness and maturity to its glorious fruit. So our Christian life is matured by trial. The souls that have never suffered are cold and harsh. “The trial of our faith is much more precious than gold which perisheth though it be tried of fire.” Are we getting all out of our trials for which they were sent us?
“Trials make the promise sweet,
Trials give new life to prayer,
Trials bring me to His feet,
Lay me low and keep me there.”
“Aliens may escape the rod,
Sunk in earth’s delight,
But the true-born child of God
May not, would not, if he might.”
